About the artist
Juliana Austen, a Canadian artist

Juliana Austen is a Canadian artist whose creativity has been shaped by seeing the world beyond her own home. Extensive travel has introduced her to different landscapes, cultures, architecture, animals and ways of life, all of which continue to influence the way she sees colour and creates art.
Nature and animals are recurring inspirations in her work. She is equally fascinated by faces and personality, often transforming familiar subjects through unexpected colour, intricate pattern and bold interpretation.
Materials and process
Juliana works primarily with alcohol markers, while also exploring oil pastels, watercolour, acrylic paint, graphite and mixed media. Her portfolio moves between detailed observation and imaginative, highly colourful interpretation. Every work shown here is original and created by hand, with sizes and media varying across the portfolio.
Her portfolio continues to evolve as she experiments with new subjects, techniques and places that inspire her.
